SACP YSVA
The Sexual Abuse Counselling Program YSVA is funded by the Queensland Government Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women to provide trauma informed, developmentally sensitive and culturally safe therapeutic counselling and support to children and young people under 18 years of age who have experienced sexual abuse.
The SACP YSVA program:
- Can work with clients residing in the Toowoomba area who are not part of the statutory child protection system.
- We can work with the non-offending family members/caregivers or carers to build their capability to support children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.
- We can support children and young people's engagement with other support services, safe people and places in their support network.
- We will undertake individual risk and needs assessment and case planning with the child or young person and non-offending family members, caregivers or carers to support young people to overcome their experience of sexual abuse, lessen the negative impacts of sexual abuse experience and prevent their experience having negative impacts on their self-esteem, confidence and future relationships.
The SACP YSVA program is a free service offering weekly one-hour counselling appointments for up to 26 sessions at Mercy Community Toowoomba, 104 South Street, Centenary Heights, Toowoomba.
We are unable to provide transport for counselling and consistent attendance at counselling is required to maintain a therapeutic relationship and achieve the overall goals of counselling.
