Early Intervention Youth Counselling
Counselling for young people exhibiting sexually reactive behaviours.
The Youth Sexual Violence and Abuse (YSVA) program is funded by the Queensland Government Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women to provide trauma informed, developmentally sensitive and culturally safe counselling and support to children and young people 10-17 years exhibiting sexually reactive behaviours which may include problem sexual behaviours or sexually abusive behaviours.
Youth Sexual Violence and Abuse (YSVA) program
- Can work with clients residing in the Toowoomba area.
- Can work with clients aged 10-17 years exhibiting sexually reactive behaviours which may include problem sexual behaviours or sexually abusive behaviours (clients currently in contact with the youth justice system are unable to access this program).
- We will prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people who have been sexually abused and those who are at risk of sexual abuse.
- We can work with the non-offending family members/caregivers or carers to build their capability to support children and young people to develop respectful, responsible and non-abusive behaviours.
- We can support children and young people’s engagement with other support services, safe people and places in their support network.
- We will undertake individual risk assessment and safety and support planning with children and young people and non-offending family members and safe people in the child or young person’s safety and support network to protect other children or young people from harm.
- We can provide information to young people to build their awareness and understanding of sexual violence.
