Gifts of joy, from young people to aged care residents

As part of encouraging connections between young people and aged care residents, young people in Mercy Community’s residential care programs were invited to make cards and gifts for the people living in aged care—some of whom who’d been unwell. The young people thoroughly embraced the opportunity and put their whole hearts into it, making cards and gifts.

The cards contained beautiful, sincere messages, all in the young people’s own words.

“Someone cares … I want you to know that you are special … don’t let anything get you down.”

This activity brought a whole lot of sunshine into aged care and gave the young people in residential care an immense amount of joy as well.
