Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS) is here to provide compassionate support and tailored strategies to strengthen the well-being of children, young people, and their families.
Funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, FMHSS offers inclusive services designed to address mental health challenges and deliver positive outcomes.
Tailored Support, Just for You
Our dedicated team works closely with each child or young person to provide personalised support, including:
Assessment of risk and protective factors
Supportive counselling
Practical assistance
Collaboration and coordination with relevant support networks.
Referrals to other relevant services as appropriate.
Additionally, we offer a range of psychoeducational and therapeutic groups for parenting and children, such as Circle of Security, Bringing Up Great Kids, Rage, Managing the Bull, Feeling Fantastic, and Rules in Relationships.

Support Through Every Season
At Mercy Community, we recognise that mental health is complex and unique to each person’s experience. Our FMHSS program offers support for a wide range of situations and experiences, including:
- Children experiencing sadness, negative thoughts, fearfulness, aggression, or concentration problems
- Young people facing mental health concerns, school or work challenges, or increasing worries about mental illness
- Parents feeling anxious or uncertain about their children's mental health
- Families in need of support and advocacy
Engaging Our Services
Our FMHSS programs are available to:
- Children or young people aged between 0-18 years at risk of developing or showing early signs of mental illness
- Families residing in the Greater Ipswich area or between Springfield to Redbank
- Families not under shared or total care of the Department of Child Safety or Youth Justice
No formal referral or paperwork is required for our free services.
