Sexual Abuse Counselling Program (YSVA)

Empowering Healing

The Sexual Abuse Counselling Program (YSVA), funded by the Queensland Government Department of Justice and Attorney General provides trauma-informed, culturally safe therapeutic counselling and support to children and young people under 18 years of age who have experienced sexual abuse.

What We Offer

Tailored Support

Our program is designed to meet the unique needs of each individual client. We offer trauma-informed counselling and support services to children and young people residing in the Toowoomba area, who are not part of the statutory child protection system.

Family Support

We understand the importance of a supportive family environment. That’s why we work closely with non-offending family members, caregivers, and carers to enhance their capability in supporting children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.

Connection and Engagement

We help children and young people connect with other support services, safe individuals, and secure places within their support network, fostering a sense of safety and belonging.

Personalised Care

Through individual risk and needs assessments, we develop comprehensive case plans in collaboration with the child or young person and their non-offending family members, caregivers, or carers. Our goal is to support young people in overcoming their trauma, minimising its negative impacts, and safeguarding their self-esteem, confidence, and future relationships.

Free Counselling

We offer weekly one-hour counselling appointments for up to 26 sessions at our Mercy Community Toowoomba location, situated at 104 South Street, Centenary Heights, Toowoomba.

Please note that we are unable to provide transportation for counselling sessions. Consistent attendance is crucial to maintaining a therapeutic relationship and achieving the overall goals of counselling.
