Chris Thomson
Interim Chief Financial Officer
Chris brings extensive experience and a diverse skill set to Mercy Community, where he has assumed an interim role to support the organisation through a period of transition and operational enhancement.
Chris started his career as a lawyer at the Reserve Bank of Australia before transitioning into the finance industry.
His roles in commercial lending and corporate advisory at the State Bank of NSW and Commonwealth Bank marked the beginning of a successful career path, and he went on to enjoy a number of senior finance positions in various sectors and companies, including TNT Australia, KFC Australia and New Zealand, Invensys plc, Rentokil plc, Twentieth Century Fox, and Readers Digest Australia.
During that time, he also worked offshore in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Returning to Australia, Chris dedicated his skills to the not-for-profit sector, holding senior finance roles with organisations such as Children’s Cancer Institute, Royal Rehab, Northern Sydney Local Health District, Vinnies NSW, and Southern Cross Care NSW.
His commitment to the sector reflects a passion for contributing to meaningful causes.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University, as well as a Master of Commerce (Finance and Investment) from UNSW.
He is also admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and is a proud member of CPA Australia.
With a strong foundation of knowledge and expertise, Chris is a welcome addition to Mercy Community’s leadership team.
