Mercy Community is pleased to announce that the Lowood Hub team have been awarded the Ipswich and West Moreton Region Child Protection Week Award for helping to raise awareness and highlighting the importance of child protection in their community.

The Mercy Community Lowood Hub, part of the Families and Young People offering from Mercy Community, provides an Integrated Early Years’ Service, Targeted Family Support Service and Services Australia Agency, to support families living in the Lowood and surrounding areas.

The Ipswich & West Moreton Region Child Protection Week Awards have been established by the Ipswich District Child Protection Week Committee (Queensland Police Service, Department of Children, Youth Justice, and Multicultural Affairs, ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service, Ipswich City Council and Somerset Regional Council) to promote the safety and wellbeing of children.

“The Awards aim to raise awareness and highlight the importance of child protection in our communities, while at the same time recognising the efforts, programs, services, and achievements that individuals and organisations have accomplished,” says Fritha Radyk CEO Mercy Community.

The Lowood Hub strengthens families in the Lowood area with links to local community resources. Their integrated Early Years’ Service offers families locally responsive and connected services that support child and parent/carer well-being, increases community connection, enhances positive child learning and development and builds parenting capacity and confidence. The Targeted Family Support Service provides families with confidential support and skills to enhance their parenting abilities and family capabilities in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

“The Mercy Community Lowood team demonstrated exceptional commitment to the prevention of child harm and the need to keep children and young people safe. We are very proud of their efforts,” added Fritha.
