We’re thrilled to announce that Mercy Community’s Intensive Family Support Program in Ipswich has received a $10,000 grant, thanks to the generosity of Komatsu Australia’s Live Your Dream initiative, and a heartfelt nomination from Tony Steffens, a member of their Wacol team.
Tony, whose daughter works at Mercy Community, has witnessed firsthand the powerful impact our team has on families doing it tough. When Komatsu invited employees to nominate causes that matter to them, Tony didn’t hesitate, he put forward Mercy’s Ipswich-based program with the hope of helping vulnerable families create stronger, more stable futures.
“I hear her stories about the vulnerable families they support and how they seek better outcomes for children and families. I came from a pretty fortunate position… so when the opportunity came up to apply for Live Your Dream and give back in some way, I saw a chance to make a real, positive impact,”
— Tony Steffens, Komatsu Australia
Mercy Community’s Intensive Family Support Program provides compassionate, practical assistance to families facing complex and often overwhelming challenges—including housing instability, domestic and family violence, and child protection concerns. The new funding from Komatsu will help us support around 80 families with:
- Access to mental health services
- Parenting tools and educational resources
- Basic needs assistance (such as food, transport, or household items)
- Crisis support and safety planning for at-risk families
Feedback from the Komatsu team has been incredibly positive, with many moved by the passion and dedication behind our work. We are so proud to be partnering with a company that shares our commitment to meaningful, community-led change.
To Tony and the Komatsu Australia team, thank you. Your generosity and belief in our mission are helping to build safer homes and brighter futures for children and families in our Ipswich community.
