Supported Employment
More than just a job
We believe in empowering people of all abilities in the workplace so that you can refine your skills, achieve your dreams and have options for the future.
Mercy Community provides meaningful employment for people with intellectual disabilities who may not have access to mainstream job opportunities. We do this through the Cookery Nook, an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE) that provides a quality catering service to metropolitan Brisbane and its surrounds.
We’ve been providing supported employment, volunteering and work experience opportunities for people with a disability for more than 20 years.
Benefits of supported employment
The Cookery Nook not only provides practical work skills, but also contributes to the development of personal and social skills including:
A sense of purpose, contribution and belonging
Improved confidence and self esteem
Friendships and connections with other people
Enhanced communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills
A range of other transferable life skills
Our team provides each employee with individualised training, professional development and growth opportunities, to cater for their unique needs and help them achieve their personal and career goals.
We pride ourselves on our supportive ‘family-like’ culture, where our aim is to understand and encourage each person to reach their full potential.

Mercy Community and the NDIS
Mercy Community has been supporting people with a disability for almost 130 years. We are a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider, dedicated to helping you make the most of all that is available to you through the NDIS.
We have a dynamic team of support workers who, every day, assist people with a disability throughout Queensland to live as independently as possible.
