With programs spanning Families and Young People Services, Disability Supports and Aged Care Services, you’ll have the opportunity to undertake several different placements at Mercy Community.

Placement Opportunities
Bachelor and Masters' Students
*Ideally, due to the extensive induction and training offered, students with a minimum of 250-300 hours of placement are considered in the first instance. Due to the nature of work in this program, it is preferrable that students have external professional supervision; however in some instances and where workload allows, internal supervision may be accommodated (please indicate the requirements for this on your application). Disability Supports offers industry-leading induction and training and provides opportunities to work with several key government agencies and real post-placement job opportunities.
TAFE & RTO Students
Our Aged Care Services take students studying a Certificate in Individualised Support, and Health Services Assistance, as well as Diploma level Nursing.
Mercy Community takes its responsibility to the sector very seriously. We are proud to provide quality placement opportunities and play a role in developing the high-quality workforce upon which vulnerable communities can rely.
Requirements for students
If you would like to apply for a student placement with us, we have the following requirements:
- you must be currently enrolled in a relevant degree course that contains a mandatory placement component to satisfy curriculum learning and study outcomes which is an Australian Registered Training Organisation. Relevant degree courses could include (but are not limited to): social work, human services or social welfare, psychology or behavioural science, law, human resources, accounting, etc.
- your placement start and finish dates should be within the academic year and cannot exceed 240 hours in total (or more than 30 days) unless otherwise agreed between the parties
- you must undergo a criminal history check
- you must hold a current Blue Card if you are seeking a placement working with children (aged 0-18 years).
- you will need a NDIS Worker Screening (WS) test if you wish to be placed in Aged Care Services
